Footstool
Good evening. We hope you have had a chance to view our latest project that was posted yesterday. For that person who wants to try their hand at doing some upholstering, a small project like we posted is a great way to start. It not only gives an old piece of furniture a new look but a new purpose again. The first thing you will need to decide is if your project will need refinishing or not. That, of course, would be the first thing you would want to do. After that, you can move on to upholstering.
In-Weave in Hawarden, Iowa, carries a huge amount of upholstery in micro-suede, ultra leather, jacquards, chenille, velvets, and tapestry. There are thousands of yards of upholstery to choose from. We are sure you will find something for your first project. To start with a smaller project is a great way to begin so you do not become discouraged. The next time you tackle an upholstery job, it will be much easier as you now understand the process.
On the project posted yesterday, if the piece of board was not in good shape, we would not have had to go through the work of removing the staples as we did. You would basically rip off the old upholstery fabric and go from there. You really should take your project apart first and then decide what move to make next. The footstool that we upholstered was from a garage sale and so we did not have much investment in it. We saw there was potential and that is what makes it fun.
